Hunter turns away and slams back his beer, breathing hard in between gulps.
Kyan runs his hands through his hair, breathing heavily, until his eyes land on me. His breathing slowly evens out and his eyes fill with pain, as he looks me over from head to toe like he hasn’t seen me in months.
I want nothing more than to run into his arms and hold him, but I don’t. I know that I don’t have the right to do that, but I want it more than anything.
Looking at Hunter, Kyan grabs his beer out of his hand and tilts it back, looking him in the face. Then he slams the empty bottle down onto the bar. “I know,” he says.
“What?” Hunters asks, looking his brother over.
“That I fell for Calla.” He turns to me and grabs my face, looking me in the eyes. “I can’t fucking stop thinking about you. I’ve tried so damn hard, but it’s impossible.” He brushes his lips against mine before tangling his hands into the back of my hair and gently kissing me.
Grabbing his arms, I kiss him back, smiling against his lips. My heart is racing so damn fast that it’s hard to catch my breath. His lips give me that familiar feeling of peace that I’ve been missing since the wedding. I have completely fallen for this man and this kiss confirms that he’s fallen for me too; at least I hope.
Pulling away from me, he rubs his thumb over my bottom lip while sucking his lip into his mouth. “I just needed some time to think and figure out shit in my head. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that it was too late. I’ve already given you my damn heart and I don’t want it back.” He leans down and smiles against my lips. “I want you,” he whispers.
“Thank fucking God.” Hunter grunts from beside us. “I’m going home.”
Stopping Hunter, Kyan reaches for his arm. “We’re not done yet, asshole. We have a lot of shit to talk about later. Alright, little brother?”
Hunter grins before leaning in to attempt to kiss my forehead. Kyan places his hand over his face, pushing him back. “No way. Your lips won’t be going anywhere near Calla for a while. A long while.”
A small laugh escapes me as I watch the brothers making up. They don’t need to say it aloud I can see it in their eyes. They may have their problems, but they love each other. It makes me want to go home and call Chrissy. It makes me miss her like crazy and want what they have.
Kyan apologizes to Dane and everyone, before turning back to me and pulling me against him. Swallowing, he pulls my chin up to look at him. “I’m sorry for being an idiot. If you give me a chance, I will make it up to you.”
Smiling, I bite his bottom lip and pull away. “You definitely have a lot of making up to do, Kyan Wilder.” I wrap my arms around him and press my face to his chest as he pulls me against him as closely as he can.
Being in his arms feels so insanely good that I really don’t want to think about the past or the future. All that matters is the present. I want this man and he wants me. That’s all I can ask for.
The sexy guy with a gym bag and firm ass . . . I never expected he’d be mine.
One month later . . .
OPENING KYAN’S DOOR, I let myself in and throw my purse down onto the kitchen island. Kyan asked me to throw on something fun and meet him here after the wedding. He sounded pretty excited on the phone, which only got me extremely excited.
“Kyan . . . get your sexy ass out here.” I shout. “I need to touch you before I go crazy.”
Kyan walks out of the bathroom rolling the sleeves to his black button down up to his elbows. Smirking, he walks over and grabs my hands, rubbing them over his chest. “Mmm . . .” He leans down and kisses me roughly on the lips, as if he’s been dying to kiss me all day. “You look damn sexy in that dress, baby.” He pulls my hands away from his chest and bites his bottom lip. “I can’t let you touch me too much right now or I’m going to end up fucking you all night instead of going out.”
He walks into the living room and bends down to pick up something from the table.
A huge smile takes over my face as soon as I realize what it is. I have been waiting for what seems like forever to hold this in my hands. I hurry over to him and snatch it out of his hands. “The book!” I shriek. My eyes widen as I look it over, flipping it back and forth, checking out my pictures on the cover. “It’s so beautiful. Wow. This is so cool, Kyan. I’m starting this book tonight. We might just have to hold off sex until I’m done.”
He snatches the book out of my hand and playfully starts kissing my neck, causing me to scream and laugh at the same time. “Stop it! Kyan . . .” I push at his chest as he continues to make me squirm. “That tickles. That tickles, stop.”
Finally, he stops and pulls my body against him. He wraps his hand into the back of my hair and looks me in the eyes. “I don’t think I can ever go a day without being inside you, Calla. You know that.” He raises a brow and motions with his head toward the book. “I will make love to you while you read it if I have to. Just imagine my extremely hard cock inside of you, pushing in and out while you read about this Blaine guy. I’ll be sure to remind you that the real thing is so much better. Don’t test me.”
I laugh and smile against his lips. I rub my thumb over his bottom lip just like he always does to me. “I’m going to hold you to that.” Reaching up, I kiss him gently before pulling away and getting ready to walk toward the door.
I feel a pull on my arm, stopping me. Kyan slowly moves to stand in front of me. His eyes look deep into mine as if he’s looking into my soul, burning himself into it, and ensuring that it will never forget him. “I love you, Calla.” He swallows. “I have for a while now. So fucking much.”
My heart literally skips a beat and the butterflies in my stomach go crazy as I realize what he just said. I’ve been longing to hear those words for what seems like a lifetime. I was seriously starting to go insane waiting.
Wrapping my arms around his neck, I pull him down to me and slam my lips against his. I kiss him so hard that it hurts my lips, but I don’t care. My emotions are going crazy and I don’t care if he sees. I want him to feel how much I have waited for these three little words.
“I love you, Kyan. I love you so much that it hurts in your absence.”
He rubs his thumbs over my face and smiles. “Nothing will never have to hurt with me, baby. I promise that.” He kisses me one more time, gently caressing my face, before grabbing my hand. “Let’s get downstairs so we can hurry back up to bed.” He smirks and bounces his eyebrows, being sure that I get what he means, as if it’s never clear with him.
