One Long Embrace Page 61
Jay drew back, releasing her lips. This seemed like the perfect time for what he wanted to talk to her about.
“So when are you gonna make an honest man out of me?”
“Are you asking me to marry you?”
“Yes, so will you?”
Tara smirked. “Just as soon as my parents stop gloating.”
“Uh oh, I have the feeling this is going to turn into a very long courtship. Maybe we can find something to do in the meantime.”
“What did you have in mind?”
He winked. “How do you feel about taking this boat on a very long journey, darlin’?”
“I’d like that a lot.”
“Good, then I can get to work convincing you to marry me. And I’ll only let you get off this boat once you say yes.”
“Are you telling me that you’re trying to kidnap me?”
He grinned. “Call it what you want. But you’re not leaving my bed or my boat until I’ve got what I want.”
“And what do you want?”
“You. Forever.”
Tara pulled his head down to hers, his lips now hovering less than an inch over hers. Tempting. Teasing.
“Well, I’m not buying a pig in a poke. Show me what you’ve got to convince me,” she demanded and pressed her lips to his.
“Didn’t I just do that a minute ago?”
“Tired already?”
“With you? Never.” He brushed his lips to hers. A moment later he’d rolled himself off her, pulled her into his arms and brought himself back down on the sofa. Now she was on top of him, straddling him. “Now be a really bad girl and ride me.”
“Or what?”
“Or I’m going to have to tie you to my bed and punish you until you do as I say.”
Tara drowned out his last word by kissing him.
He could definitely get used to this. To Tara. To love and being loved.
