Thrust Page 47
This man is absolutely perfect and I love it. This is perfect . . .
WHEN WE GET DOWNSTAIRS TORI and Hunter start whistling and calling us over to a table in the back, as if we can’t see their crazy asses. They pushed two long tables together to make room for all seven of us: Kyan, Tori, Hunter, Dane, his beautiful wife, Olivia, and me.
I’ve met Olivia once before at the gym and she’s the sweetest little thing that you’ll ever meet. She’s just a little over five feet with long, black hair and big, kind, blue eyes. She’s so damn cute. I adore her already.
Tori immediately jumps to her feet and runs over to me, grabbing my arm. “Oh thank God you’re here. I don’t know how much longer I can look at Hunter without wanting to staple his mouth shut.” She makes a face over her shoulder in Hunter’s direction. “He’s so hot, but his mouth seriously needs some work.”
I roll my eyes and laugh as Hunter raises his drink and smirks. “My mouth can definitely work on you,” he teases. “It can work a lot of things.”
Tori reaches over to the table and throws a fry at his head. “You drive me crazy. I love food. I fucking love it, which means that I eat it, not throw it. Get what I mean, moron?”
I laugh against Tori’s shoulder as Hunter just shrugs, picks up the fry, and eats it before turning to talk to Dane and his wife.
Seeing Dane here makes me so happy. Kyan forced fewer hours on Dane and doubled his pay. Dane argued it at first, but is definitely enjoying his time off from work now. Based on what Kylie says, he takes her out once a week for a romantic night with just the two of them. It doesn’t surprise me. Dane seems like the hopeless romantic. They got married a couple weeks ago and Tori and I had the honor of photographing it. I actually shed a few tears. I won’t lie.
Kyan comes up behind me and wraps his arms around my waist, pulling me into him as him and Olivia chat over her next cover and how she wants me to photograph Kyan again. I’m so happy I can seriously scream right now. I have been waiting for her to ask for what feels like forever.
“I’ll do it!” I scream, scaring everyone at the table. I shrug and pop a fry into my mouth. “What? I can’t contain my excitement. You know that.” I lean my head against Kyan’s chest, completely satisfied, and smile as everyone goes back to their previous activities.
Watching Hunter get under Tori’s skin from across the table only makes the high that much better. She needs someone to annoy her just as much as she annoys me. Brad obviously wasn’t a match for her and she kicked him to the curb a few weeks ago. She’s been up mine and Kyan’s ass ever since, constantly asking about our sex life. I can’t take it anymore. She needs to get some before I stop having sex just to shut her up. Actually . . . I take that back. I can’t do that. Not with being in Kyan’s bed each night.
Olivia pulls my attention away from Tori and Hunter. Excitedly, I lean over and give her a hug, shaking her in my arms. Tonight is her night. This is about her and her book, and Kyan was so amazing to set this gathering up for her.
Releasing Olivia, she throws her hand over her mouth in excitement as Mya, one of the other bartenders, comes over and sets a small cake down on the table with Olivia’s book on it.
“Oh my goodness. I’m going to cry,” Olivia says behind her hand. “Thank you!”
She turns to Kyan and pulls him in for a hug, while pulling me in at the same time.
“It was all Calla,” Kyan says, while squeezing us.
“What?” I ask in surprise. “I didn’t even know the book was released.” I push his arm as he releases us. “You big softy. Awe.” Everyone else says awe at the same time, causing Kyan to roll his eyes and smile, while grabbing for his beer.
“Yeah. Yeah. Just eat up,” he groans.
I throw my arms back around him and mouth that I love him and he does the same in return before kissing me gently on the lips.
Things seriously couldn’t be any better than they are right this minute. I’m with my friends, the people most important to me, my sister is coming to stay next weekend, and I’m in the arms of the man I love.
I’m completely whole right now and I plan on holding onto this feeling for as long as I can . . .
The End
